Here are a few gym rules we adhere to at CrossFit Kicaster that best reflect our gym’s culture and allows us to foster a fun, safe, clean, and respectful training environment for everyone in our community. This list is hardly all-inclusive, but it pretty much comes down to safety, common courtesy, and respect for others and our equipment.

Give us your feedback!  We love to hear from our Athletes and guests.  If you have something you want to say, please share it with us in our comment box located in, well, the most private place on the property :).  Please let us know your gripes as well as your likes!

Welcome New Members.  You were once the new kid on the block.  Remember when you didn’t know what an AMRAP stood for or where the Abmats were located, or what in the world an Abmat even was?  Our community is what sets us apart from any other gym.  Please introduce yourself to newer members and help them get acquainted with our community.

No One Left Behind.  Your WOD isn’t finished until the last member in your class is finished.  If you complete your workout before someone else, find someone who hasn’t finished and cheer them on.  We guarantee there will be a grueling WOD in your future where you will be the last one standing and you may just welcome that extra push or cheer to get you through it.

Ask First.  Additional training prior to or after class on the main gym floor must always be cleared with the Coach-on-Duty and should not interfere with the ongoing class. The coach always has final say.

Respect Our Coaches. Please pay attention when the Coach-on-Duty is explaining the workout and the movements.  We ask that you refrain from loading barbells, grabbing equipment, practicing movements or discussing what you had for lunch when the coach is talking.  While you may have heard the instruction for a deadlift one thousand times, it may be the first time for the person standing next to you.  Besides you may just learn something new and it could be what separates you from your next PR!

Don’t Load Up Early.  Please do not load or place weight on your barbell until you are told to do so by the coach.  Trust us, you will be asked to remove the weight from your barbell.

Stay Unplugged.  No Headphones on the gym floor at any time.  If you don’t like our music, please make a request...or heck, bring us your CLEAN playlist...we LOVE new music!

Be aware of your surroundings.  We often get de-sensitized to what actually goes on at the gym, but there are really heavy objects being lifted, dropped, swung and thrown.  Watch where you are going and listen to what is going on around you.

Scaling is Not for Sissys.  Please do not argue with the coach if they ask you to scale your weight or movement.  They are trying to keep you safe and moving effectively and efficiently through the workout, and trying to ensure the workout stimulus is being met.  A coach will stop any workout or activity if it is deemed unsafe at any time.

Kids and Barbells Don’t Mix. We love all of our CFK kids, but we want them to be safe.  We encourage you to bring your kids with you, but all children need to be able to sit unattended in the kid's area at the front of the gym.  If they require supervision, please have a responsible adult in attendance to supervise them.  If your child is screaming please attend to them.  Children are not allowed on the equipment at any time, and must be off the gym floor during group classes & whenever there are weights out.

Ghostriding is Never Cool.   Please control your barbells or any weight you are moving. Do not drop empty or super lightweight barbells, or dumbbells & kettlebellsfrom overhead.  This is a phenomenon called Ghostriding and while you may feel cool doing it, we guarantee you won’t feel cool when your barbell hits your neighbor.  So please don’t do it unless it is for safety purposes and out of necessity.

Don’t Suffer in Silence.  If you are injured please let us know before the workout.  Remember we can scale and modify any movement!  But only you know how your body feels.  Train Smart!

Sign in to Class.  Even if you are on the Unlimited Plan, please sign in.  If the kiosk isn’t working, please notify the coach.

Come Early.  In fact, we prefer that you are early.  Use the time to sign in, do some mobility,  use the restroom, or meet a new member! Please be ready for class when it starts.

Be On Time.  Being consistently late for anything is not cool.  And warming up properly is extremely important.  We understand you have a life outside the gym and we all know that traffic can suck.  We won’t judge you if you show up a few minutes late once in a while, but please be respectful, warm-up quickly, and then jump-in to class.

Don’t be a Smelly Nelly.  Please Wear Deodorant.

Clean up your DNA.  Please clean up your sweat, blood and puke. Wipe down your equipment before putting it away and pick up your used tape, Band-Aids, towels, Kleenex, and sweaty clothes & shoes.

Speak Up.  Please bring things to our attention.  If you notice that equipment is broken, lights are out, or there’s no toilet paper in the bathroom, bring it to our attention so we can do something about it.

Clean Up After Yourself.  Wipe down your white boards and equipment and keep your bodily fluids off our equipment.  Pick up your tape, markers, poker chips, notebooks, water bottles, clothing and gear.  Put away all the equipment you used back where it belongs.  Stack the boxes neatly, put the bars in the racks, stack the plates in order, and hang up your jump ropes.  If your kids make a mess, please clean up after them, especially any snacks they may have enjoyed as this draws insects.  We pride ourselves on having one of the cleanest CF gyms in the area.  Please help us keep it that way.  Set the example and others will follow.

Keep the Bathroom Clean.  We don’t expect you to be janitors. Just do the simple things like making sure your paper towels and tape end up in the garbage can.  If you splash water all over the floor, wipe it up.  If you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat.

Respect our Equipment and Facility.  Please take care of the equipment.  Don’t tie knots in the jump ropes, don’t drag the boxes across the floors and don’t drop the kettlebells or dumbbells or any weight for that matter unnecessarily.

Don’t Drop Empty Barbells.  Please do not drop a barbell without weight or when stripping weight off the barbell.  This causes serious damage to our very expensive barbells.  Plus every time an empty barbell is dropped a kitten there's that.

Chalk Stays in the Bucket.  I repeat…Chalk stays in the bucket. I assure you it is not magical fairy dust...ok, so maybe it IS sometimes, but still...please use it sparingly.  And whatever you do, do not use it to mark off your rounds on the floor...If you cannot follow this rule, you will be directed to where the scrub brush, mop and bucket reside to clean up your mess :)

Be Positive.  Eliminate Can’t or Never from your vocabulary!  Don’t drag others down with a bad attitude.  We believe anything is possible with a little hard work and determination.  Be optimistic, have fun and push yourself and others to do better.

Quitting is Never an Option.  We promise you the workouts will challenge you and push you to your perceived limits.  We only ask that you use proper form and always try hard.  Effort always earns respect.  Nobody cares about your time on the board or how much weight you move, they only care that you tried.

Be coachable.  Everyone needs a coach!  If you need help, ask for it.  The coach is there to help make you better.

Your ego is not your Amigo...And it is not welcome at our gym.  Don’t be afraid to be uncomfortable!  Challenge yourself and continue to progress through scaling options until you can execute full range of motion (ROM)!  This stuff takes time so be patient, have fun and push yourself and others to become better.  And please don’t take yourself so seriously…It's only CrossFit.

Learn to Count.  Please do not Cheat.  It’s awkward when you do and evident to everyone around you.  Try to complete every rep with good form and full range of motion no matter the time it takes you.  Train with Integrity and the Gainz will come! If you lose count, the next number should always be 1.

Train Smart. Warm Up. Cool Down. Take Rest Days.  We love Gainz…but make them smart Gainz!  Rest, nutrition, and sleep are critical components to achieving results.  Training and Volume alone won’t get you to your goal.

Have Standards.  Always use full range of motion and train to the standard we teach.  Just because you can do Rx weights doesn’t mean you always should.  Lighter and lower is always better than heavier and higher.

Be accountable to yourself.  Track your goals, your workout times, and PRs.  Celebrate your accomplishments!  “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!”

  • All members are required to reserve a spot in their desired class time through the PushPress Member App.

  • All CrossFit classes are capped at 15 members, with the exception of our Community Workouts.  If you are unable to enroll prior to the cap then your name will be added to a waitlist.

  • If you have pre-enrolled in a class and can no longer attend, you will be required to cancel your enrollment 90 minutes prior to the class start time to avoid having a session removed from your allotted monthly count and allow for another member on the waitlist to attend the class.

  • If you are on the waitlist you will need to wait until a spot opens to attend the class.  The system will notify you directly if space becomes available.

  • Please Note:  Once you arrive to class you will still need to check in at the kiosk to change your status from enrolled to checked in for that specific class. Enrolling in the class is not the same as checking in to class.

  • Athletes can cancel their reservation in PushPress free of charge no later than 90 minutes prior to class start.

  • After that time, a fee of $10 will be charged if you are enrolled in the Unlimited Plan.  If you are enrolled in either the 12x/month or a PunchCard, a session will be removed from your allotted classes.

  • Please be sure to cancel in a timely manner to allow members on the waitlist to attend and to avoid any cancellation penalties.

  • All athletes, regardless of plan, must sign in at the Kiosk prior to your scheduled class to change your status from reserved to checked-in.

  • If a member is late to class, they will need to check in with the Coach-on-Duty to determine if they will be able to attend class.

  • We typically will extend a 10-15 minute grace period, but ultimately it is at the Coach-on-Duty's discretion and safety assessment.

  • If the class has commenced the skill or strength portion of the class then the member may be asked to attend the next scheduled class of the day.

  • Athletes who are allowed to join the class late, will be given an alternate warm-up to be completed immediately so as not to further delay the class.  The individual may also be asked to sit out of the skill or strength portion if they are late and prepare for the WOD.

  • This policy is meant to ensure that classes run on schedule and in a safe manner.  We value your safety as well as our members and coaches time, and we ask that all of our members respect this policy and make every effort to arrive on time, if not early for class.

  • Additionally, if a member is consistently late to class and it appears they are abusing the late policy, the member will be asked to attend the next available class of the day.

  • Expires after 8 class reservations and/or classes, or 3 months, whichever comes first.

  • Will NOT automatically renew once all sessions have been used.

  • All recurring monthly plans are paid by monthly automatic electronic payment (credit card, debit card, or automatic checking account draft).

  • Recurring plans will automatically renew each month at the same payment terms and billing date established at time of enrollment.

  • Cancellations must be received in writing 30 days in advance of next billing cycle (see details below)

  • It is the members responsibility to monitor membership expiration dates.

  • Monthly recurring plans can be cancelled at any time, however, all cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to and received thirty (30) days prior to your next payment processing date.

  • All recurring plans require a minimum of 30 days written notice prior to next billing date to assure cancellation of automatic payments. Cancellation requests submitted within the 30 day billing cycle will result in a final payment drawn from your account on your established auto draft date. Once final payment has been drawn from your account, clients will have 30 days from the last bill date to use the facilities.

  • It is your responsibility to provide written notice 30 days in advance of your next billing date. There will be no refund issued once a payment has been charged to your credit card.

  • All athlete are welcome to upgrade or downgrade their plans or without penalty.

  • If an athlete wishes to upgrade immediately their new membership plan will be prorated based on the number of days remaining in their current billing cycle at their new rate. At the start of the next monthly billing cycle they will be charged at their full membership rate.

  • If a member wishes to downgrade their membership to a lower session based plan they must wait until their next monthly bill date for the new plan to be effective.

  • Please note, changes cannot be made retroactively.

  • If an athlete attends more classes than his/her plan allows in a month, they will be charged a fee of $10 per additional session.

  • For example if a member has a 12 session per month plan, but attends 15 sessions within their monthly billing cycle they will be charged their 12 session per month membership fee as well as an additional $30 for the additional three classes attended.

  • Class fees for additional classes will be billed directly to the members card on file at the end of the month.

  • If a member consistently attends more sessions than their plan allows, it is highly recommended they consider upgrading to a higher session membership for the cost savings.

  • Athletes may put their recurring plan on hold, for a period no less than thirty (30) days (or one calendar month), and for up to ninety (90) days (three calendar months) per calendar year.

  • Notice of freeze must be given to CrossFit Kicaster via email prior to the first day of the requested hold and will not be issued retroactively.

  • Holds cannot be issued for personal travel under 3 weeks.

  • All payments drawn prior to the requested hold will not be refunded.

  • Clients will not be billed for months on hold, and billing will resume automatically upon end of the hold period.

  • Holds longer than ninety (90) days may be issued for members of the military on temporary duty assignment with advanced notification.

  • If an athlete chooses to cancel their plan during the hold period, written notification must be issued within 30 days prior to the end of the hold period, otherwise athletes will be charged a final month upon hold release.

  • If you choose to cancel your membership at any time and return at a later date you will be subject to any rate increases at the time of enrollment.

  • CrossFit Kicaster will not provide refunds retroactively for any cancellation requests.

  • Cancellations are only processed by sending written notification via email.  Please do not send cancellation messages to our Facebook page or other social media sites.

  • CrossFit Kicaster does not issue refunds if you do not use all sessions in your plan, nor can you carry over sessions to the next month if you missed a class. No exceptions.
